Hit The Beach
Maybe it’s obvious to say but isn’t this why you’re visiting the beach? Bask in the sun and be a beach bum for a whole day. Soft sand and gentle surf can cure winter blues like nothing else. If you want to boost your adrenaline, consider one of the many water sports available on local beaches. From parasailing to surfing, scuba to snorkel, you’ll find tips and ideas on Sunny.org.
Shop & Peruse
Las Olas Boulevard is a destination unto itself with local shops, art galleries and museums, and inviting sidewalk cafes and eateries lining the street. Add some local color to your home decor, or explore the racks at consignment fashion shops and designer boutiques alike. If you prefer to window-shop unique finds, head to The International Swimming Hall of Fame to explore the world’s largest collection of aquatic memorabilia housed at their museum.
Sip & Savor
Take a tour at LauderAle Brewery & Tap Room. Complimentary public tours are offered (booked one week in advance) and happy hour takes place Mon-Fri between 3-6pm. Prefer a jolt of java? The Miami-based roaster, Panther Coffee, has a sneaky spot on the beach within Burlock Coast, a cafe-bar-market at The Ritz-Carlton, where Panther is served in a super chic setting.
Fort Lauderdale is full of attractions, several of which focus on nature and local conservation. Pay a visit to Butterfly World to see 20,000 butterflies from more than 150 different species. Or stroll through 60 acres of botanical gardens to see the wildlife sanctuary of Flamingo Gardens. Prefer to take your chances with discovering nature? Keep your eyes out for beach pelicans along the waterfront, or snorkel coral reefs to see tropical fish.
Rest & Recharge
Fort Lauderdale is home to one of the world’s best ocean beach playgrounds, so why not rest your head at a beachfront property? You’ll find private beach access and super-sized pools at Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club, a hotel and oasis situated directly on the beach. On-site amenities include an assortment of dining venues, larger than life pools, a kids play area, tennis courts, and so much more. Free parking, free WiFi, and no resort fee? You bet.
