From the time I pulled into the parking lot at Adrift Hotel + Spa (http://www.adrifthotel.com), I knew I was in for something special. With a beachfront location that’s hard to beat, the hotel makes its promises in the smallest of details: their self-described “urban-industrial vibe” is evidenced in a modern aesthetic that borrows from—or, rather, recycles—nature. The emphasis on rejuvenation and renewal extends beyond modern accommodations. This is a venue that aims to care for the earth, reuse natural materials, and share an exciting experience with guests.
Located in the heart of Long Beach WA, with the Pacific Ocean as its backyard, Adrift Hotel caters to the adventurous spirit. From a welcoming entranceway that establishes a décor made of reclaimed wood and repurposed metal, to the grand lobby packed with guest-use bicycles, beach-goers will feel more than at home here. They’ll feel welcome to be free.
The reception staff greeted me with warmth and shared all of the amenities available on the property, including games and activities, dining services, and complementary coffee and tea service. A late night cuppa Joe may not seem like much to some, but this is a premium local roast—Columbia River Coffee Roasters—I happen to love, so this detail made a wonderful impression. Of special note, the hotel has their own Adrift Custom Blend, an organic roast merging coffees from Brazil, Sumatra, and Costa Rica.
The heart of a hotel is the guestroom, though, and I was definitely pleased upon finding my room to be both a reflection of the local beach environment and the greater Pacific Northwest. Contemporary wood flooring and an assortment of metalwork touches caught my eye for their innovative style. My firm king size bed had a variety of pillows and a plump comforter, but the bathroom is what truly caught my attention. The large walk-in shower had features of old and new combined, pairing a modern aesthetic with reused metal and purposely-worn walls. It was in such details I called to mind the “urban-industrial vibe” Adrift claims.
While my stay was a mini-getaway with the spouse, I noticed several families enjoying hotel activities and amenities with their furry sidekicks in tow (yes, pets are welcome). With live music in the bar and a dedicated spa on site, Adrift Hotel also makes a great spot for friendly retreats and reunions. Plus, there’s always something going on throughout the Long Beach Peninsula and https://funbeach.com is a great resource for upcoming festivals and food and wine celebrations.
This has truly been one of the most endearing and unique hotels I’ve stayed in. My time in Long Beach WA was refreshing and—simply put—comfortable. From free WiFi to incredible ocean views and immediate access to the beach, Adrift Hotel was the perfect place to call it a night and enjoy just as much in the morning.
Grab a bite to eat from the in-house restaurant, [pickled fish]. In room dining is available 5pm to close, but the top floor restaurant and bar offer outstanding beach views where you can dine on local seafood and more while enjoying the Long Beach Peninsula.
