I’m all for enjoying the local cuisines while visiting a foreign country. Obviously, that’s a big part of why I, as a proud, large, American, want to see the world, but every now and then you want to know what the heck you’re ordering, and know that it’s going to be good without giving your wallet a DDT.
Enter: Viena. Spaniards do coffee right, and Viena not only does that, but they also have some sandwiches that will make your tastebuds bailar mucho (That’s about the extent of my espanol. Lo siento.) Apparently this place has been written up in the New York Times as being one of the world’s best sandwiches. I don’t know about all that, but I do know that their Jamon sandwich along with a bunch of other options are super good and will give you a break from paella if you need it (shame on you). The cafe con leche is probably the best I’ve ever had for something that seems very simple, but you know what they say, “A simple thing done right…”
So if you’re in the area, or even if you’re not in the area, take a break from your sightseeing to rest your feet and give your belly a nice treat while refueling on some high octane caffeine. Enjoy!
