Top most tourist attraction of Norway and of course Bergen. Bryggen has been designated as iconic world heritage site by UNESCO, which consists of old wharf and surrounding buildings. I found the serene beauty of this place just like Nordic region’s speciality. Colourful buildings and the busy market along with cool weather gave the whole scene a really nice ambiance. Loved strolling and shopping there.
Bryggen is interestingly beautiful place wrapped with leaning gorgeously colored buildings. The streets were narrow to walk through but cool ambiance of wooden buildings and most popular fish market never stops to amaze me. The buildings and the market place with old traditional decoration really gives you a glimpse of history. Walking through the alleys and seeing the wharf and fish market with cargo, government ships and cruise ships was really a different experience.
Bryggen cater it’s visitors with numerous delicious restaurants to choose from. It really is a living part of cultural heritage which is very much active because of numerous markets and shops which are best to take souvenirs from, as they sell really beautiful traditional and unique craft. Other than the fish market, shops and restaurant there are many cafes, plus a well renowned Bergenhus Fortress.
The place is really simple, but beautiful. But it would be more fun in times of less tourist load. Still, I love strolling in this place and being a shopaholic love it more ;).
