If you are a person from the Balkans staying in Berlin and if you suddenly want at least an approximation of how home feels like (or even if you’re not!), no worries – Berlin’s got you covered. The Turkish market is located neat Kotbusser Tor and is open every Tuesday and Friday, even in the depths of winter, which is when I decided to visited. Hundreds of stalls are lined all along the canal, selling various goods – from tasty fruit and vegetables, to colorful spices, to beautiful Turkish materials, scarfs and other similar things. If you wind yourself getting hungry while looking and shopping for all these delights, you can treat your self to various dishes they will prepare for you on the spot – such as borek or gözleme, delicious Turkish pasties. Once we finished our walk along the canal, we decided to warm up and treat ourselves to Nutella waffles and coffee in Hepcats’ Corner – a cute little cafe located at the very end of the Market. Yum!
