This was my first experience at a true parliament building. Let me preface by saying, I think Budapest is one of the most fun, architecturally amazing, and just all around best cities in Europe. Because of this, you can walk around the city and see amazing things al day long. But the parliament building is quite spectacular, there are guards everywhere you look. Clean, the whole area is so clean!
There are various statues on the property, there are tours available for parts of the inside but I did not do that. I just walked around the outside and observed for awhile. The large fountain in the front is pretty extraordinary as well. So much so that I forgot to take a photo.
The building is situated right on the Danube river so it has pretty great views from the benches scattered through the park style areas. A crazy little fact that you can ponder while you stare at the magnificence of the building. The first rendition started being built in 1885 and completed in 1904, during the time of construction, the architect whose design was chosen…. Went blind.
It is the largest building in Hungary and the tallest building in Budapest
