Chandannagar, the city that stays in my heart. I stay here, I born here and my childhood days are here in everywhere. My school days are just standing few yards away from me.
I may be getting bit more nostalgic rather than narrating the needful information about my beloved city.
This is one of the most beautiful city in WestBengal. It is situated on the bank of the Ganges. It was earlier a French Colony , even today you can see the colossal French monuments every corner of this calm but very very happening city.
It is very near to West Bengals Capital Kolkata(Calcutta) , it will take 40 minutes to reach here if you catch a train from Howrah station . It is the main terminal from Kolkata. Even By car you can reach there within an hour.
A quiet and calm city will greet you as soon as you reach there. The most beautiful place of this city is the bank of river which is very well decorated , and lots of heritage building standing tall among them a French museum , a school, two colleges ,police station, Rabindra Sadan ( a theater hall) .
A beautiful church is here just at the middle of the strand. Two jetty is there adjacent to the strand , one is ferry , you can catch a boat and go to the opposite side of the river.
Lots of people gathers here to celebrate this greatest event .This is an idol worship festival ,it happens for 5 days and on the last day an illuminated procession with that idol is the most eventful occasion . The sight is truly out of the World! Once in a life time you can witness it , I bet you will enjoy the great festival of this city !
Bengali’s one of the best celebration is Jagadhatri Puja , and this is the most attractive festival here.Go Chandannagar at that time.
