Charleston, SC for Real Life Iron Chef

I’m not shy about saying that I love the Food Network. Really, if I’m being honest, I love anything relating to good food. So I was supremely happy to find out that, to kick off Taste of Charleston weekend, the Charleston Restaurant Foundation and the South Carolina Hospital Association were putting on Charleston’s very own Iron Chef competition. If you’ve seen the show, you know the spiel – top chefs compete for the title of ‘Best’ with a capital ‘B,’ and are required to use a secret ingredient, which isn’t revealed to them until the first few minutes of the competition. It’s one thing to watch it on tv, but to see it in real life – so cool! I went with a friend. The event was a little on the pricey side, but $100 each got us access to the show, plus beer, wine, and tons of hors d’oeuvres.

The show ran until just after 9, and then we popped over to O’Hara & Flynn for a nightcap and headed back to our hotel.
