If you’re not from the area, you might not be aware of the large Vietnamese population in Texas or the high quality Vietnamese restaurants that some of them operate. Some of the best pho in the country is located in Texas and Dallas has some great restaurants serving up great soup with a variety of meats or veggies ranging from your standard chicken or beef, to oxtail and ligaments. I’d recommend avoiding the ligaments. They taste exactly how you think they’d taste and have a very strange texture in your mouth.
While there are a lot of very good places for Vietnamese in Dallas, Pho is for Lovers has never let me down. Their broth is exactly how I like it (after I spice it up with some Sriracha, of course), and their ingredients are always fresh and tasty. They have other stuff if someone’s not in a soup mood for a hot bowl of pho while in Texas. They have sandwiches and some Korean food, so there’s a little bit of something for everyone, provided everyone is up for Asian food.
