The Home Course, sitting above Puget Sound in Dupont, WA, is a newish course (opened in 2007) that also houses the offices of the WSGA and PNGA. This is very well maintained layout is well worth a trip and it sits within 45 minutes of Seattle. The wide fairways will lure you into a false comfort, the approach shots become a lot trickier.
The front 9 is pretty straight forward target golf; it’s excellent routing shows off both the sound and Mt. Rainier views. The best hole on the front is the Par 4 9th, dubbed “Old Fort”. It’s a short 375 yards that turns slightly to the left. Many options here and many possibilities – good and bad! The back 9 offers a more compact but open layout, delivering its “links” reputation. Driving becomes easier on the back, but ball striking and course management become more important.
Pride in craftsmanship is evident and it really makes for a great time. The greens fees in the $45-$85 range (depending on when you play) are a steal. Pack a lunch and beverages, the amenities do not yet match the course.
