Edinburgh, United Kingdom for Rabbie's Tours

We saw that Rick Steves recommended Rabbie’s Tours when visiting Scotland and we can confirm his recommendation. You travel with no more than 19 of you in a small group, so there’s plenty of opportunity to meet fellow travelers but you don’t feel like part of a herd.

Speaking of herds, we are visiting during the August 2017 Fringe Festival and what a riot! Edinburgh is a city of 500,000 people and it grows to hold 1.5 million during the International Festival! But the city seems to be taking it in stride. There’s virtually no crime, the streets are kept relatively clean and they’ve got a good handle on crowd control, particularly in the evenings prior to the Military Tatoo (the Monday through Saturday bagpipe and drum parade).

We’ve had a delightful time traveling up through the Highlands, going on whiskey distillery tours and learning about Scottish history and culture. An amazingly strong and proud people, I believe that given my maiden name, Scott, I might take pride in this heritage.
