Is there anything more iconic to Las Vegas than the Flamingo? Located in the heart of The Strip, at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, Flamingo Las Vegas is “forever fabulous” in my books. I’m a repeat guest, frequenting the resort any chance I get. Each time I stay, I explore just a little more of the property features and amenities (http://flamingolasvegas.com/).
Flamingo Las Vegas is home to a Wildlife Habitat, where guests can see flamingos, turtles, and other wildlife up close and personal. The quiet area is just off to the side of the Caribbean-style gardens where pools and outdoor dining areas are aplenty. The GO Pool is a 21+ venue with DJs, poolside concerts, and a number of bars. Surrounded by palm trees, with a view of the High Roller, this is a high energy hotspot to catch some sun and relax in a prime location. The Beach Club Pool is a little more relaxed and all ages. There is a bar on site, as well as access to waterslides and cabana rentals. This is a laid-back venue where couples, families, and girl-weekenders gather for fun under the sun.
Rooms are available with High Roller Views and Pool Views, where you can easily spot available lounge chairs and stake your claim. Rooms are also available with a Strip View, which showcases the action along Las Vegas Boulevard and often provides an incredible view of the Fountains at Bellagio.
On this recent trip, my reservation was for a Queen—Strip View Room. I was on the 26th floor with a panoramic view of the Boulevard and far-reaching areas of the city and surrounding mountains. My GO room had a deep bathtub separate from a glass shower, along with a television perfect for viewing while soaking in the tub. In addition to two queen size beds, there was a large chaise lounge beside the floor to ceiling windows—which made for a relaxing place to sip a glass of wine and take in the sights.
There are several on-site dining options from grab-and-go to upscale culinary adventures. Center Cut Steakhouse offers premium steaks, Kobe burgers, lobster tails, and other traditional steakhouse favorites. Club Cappuccino was my go-to spot for espresso beverages even into the late hours. The Paradise Garden Buffet serves a daily brunch and a weekend dinner.
Just next door at The Cromwell, another fabulous brunch is close at hand. I tried GIADA by celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis (http://www.giadadelaurentiis.com/vegas) and enjoyed the Marinated Olives with herbs and citrus, along with a Breakfast American of scrambled eggs, lemon smashed potatoes, and delicious sweet sausage meatballs.
While I’ve visited Flamingo Las Vegas on numerous occasions, this was the first time I saw Donny & Marie. The brother-sister duo has been performing at Flamingo since 2008 and their show is a high-energy performance of timeless and contemporary favorites. I grew up when Donny and Marie were television child-stars and I loved hearing them perform “I’m Leavin’ it (All) Up To You,” “Puppy Love,” and “Paper Roses.” Marie shared some of her recent recordings from the Music Is Medicine album, and Donny offered up solos from his latest album, The Soundtrack Of My Life. Whether performing duets or solo numbers, the entire show was audience interactive, entertaining, and theatrically engaging with high quality sound production and a cast of fabulous dancers. One of the best features of Flamingo Las Vegas is the unbeatable location. Adjacent to The Linq and High Roller, beside The Cromwell and across the street from Caesars Palace, Flamingo is within reach of everything. The Promenade between The Linq and Flamingo is a great spot for dining and shopping, and is also home to High Roller (http://highrollerlv.com). This was the first time I took the 30-minute ride atop the 550-ft observation wheel and I’ll definitely want to do it again. In addition to a sightseeing experience, High Roller also offers a Yoga Experience and a Chocolate Tasting Experience. I sampled Ethel M Chocolates during my experience and had a great time learning about chocolate while taking in amazing views.
Like every time I visit, I’m already planning my next trip back to Flamingo Las Vegas. With a fabulous location in the heart of The Strip, the amenities and services can’t be beat.
A portion of my itinerary was provided by friends at Caesars Entertainment, though all opinions shared are my own based on my specific experience.
