Florida’s Hollywood: Make Plans for A Sunny Southern Getaway

As you consider the options for vacationing in South Florida, a number of popular beaches come to mind. If you’re looking for the ideal combination of family-friendly and luxurious sandy beaches, start making your plans for Hollywood FL. Located just a few minutes south of Fort Lauderdale, and about 20 minutes north of Miami, Hollywood is a top-rated family beach with a one-of-a-kind Beach Broadwalk—an oceanfront promenade showcasing the best local arts and eats.

Wherever you stay, take advantage of the Hollywood Trolley for easy transportation around town. Why spend time looking for a parking spot when the Hollywood Trolley can drop you off directly at the beach and take you back to your hotel? Those precious minutes could be better used splashing in the ocean waves with your kids. Speaking of the ocean, this beachfront town has plenty of activities to keep you entertained for days.

Try out a Jet Ski rental for an adrenaline filled adventure. Or test your balance on a stand up paddle board. Want to hang ten? Sign up for surf lessons in Hollywood with EZride Surf School, perfect for all ages. Not sure about surfing the open sea? Get a similar thrill with the surf simulator action of FlowRider at Margaritaville Beach Resort. Here you’ll learn from on-site pros how to balance and ride waves on a surf or body board. Then hit up the Margaritaville Coffee Shop for a tasty signature espresso, hot or cold.

When hunger strikes, pay a visit to The Taco Joint for a super fresh pick-me-up. Located in Hollywood on the Broadwalk, I loved the breezy patio seating with a great view of the water while dining on a variety of tacos, nachos, and dips. My personal faves were the Carnitas and Mahi fish tacos.

As day turns to evening, be sure to look at the live entertainment options open free to the public. Margaritaville runs the bandshell on the beach and you’ll find everything from rock and pop to disco and calypso. If high stakes is more your game, head up to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino for a little player action. There’s a great variety of table games and all your favorite slot machines, too.

Out with the family? Check the calendar of events for ArtsPark at Young Circle. This is where you’ll find family-friendly fun including face painting, outdoor movies, and a whole host of arts and culture. For even more cultural exploration, pay a visit to Art and Culture Center/Hollywood for rotating arts exhibits and special events. Then take a stroll downtown to peruse the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project while exploring boutiques and eateries.

For my personal vacation, I called it a night at The Diplomat Beach Resort. This oceanfront resort sits directly on the beach, and I loved being able to wander down to the ocean early in the morning after picking up a gourmet coffee from Counter Point. On lazy sunny days, I spent time curled up at my poolside cabana, taking a break to enjoy a taco and burger lunch from poolside eatery Playa. And when it was time to refuel on some sleep, The Diplomat Beach Resort offered a modern oasis of comfort. I loved the spacious and chic King room with an oceanfront view and huge private patio. From relaxing in the deep soaker tub to curling up in luxury bedding, I was ensured a great night’s sleep and ready for more days of ocean adventure in Florida’s Hollywood.
