So it’s not exactly a luxury travel destination, but I actually had some fun in Garden City with my extended family. We were headed to the zoo with my little niece in tow when we decided to drop into the Finney County Historical Museum. We educated ourselves a little on the history of southwest Kansas, but their real claim to fame is the world’s largest hairball, which is proudly displayed on top of a shiny golden spittoon. While maybe not life changing, it’s fun to say I’ve seen it. And yeah – after some egging on from my niece, I touched it. It feels like a ball wrapped in velvet. Ew. I mean, cool. But…ew.
Admission to the museum is free, but there is a suggested donation of $2 for adults and $1 for kids.
