Amazingly designed, carved and maintained, the architecture of this church is so cleverly carved/ combined with solid rock above it, while retaining the serene and tranquil nature associated with any worship place. The church truly distinguish itself from other European churches with its jaw dropping and remarkable architecture. For me it was more of an architectural attraction than a church and it worth visiting. Each and every wall, theater like arrangement and color combination of chairs, choir instrument, and yes of course copper dome… everything is beautiful and eye catchy. This church really is perfect depiction of Finnish Style, with absolutely unique architecture, incredible interior, and simple yet attractive seating arrangement.
Speaking of copper domed roof, it as another attraction of the church which beautifully combine the rock to inside peaceful hall. Rocky walls with metallic roof and striking seating arrangement complete the whole look of this stunning place.
I used Helsinki’s bus service to reach my destination, which took more or less 10 minutes of my time and €3.20. I had to walk for about 2 minutes from my hotel to Kamppi terminal from where bus took me to Kauppakorkeakoulut, which is 3- 4 minutes away from Rock church.
Most of the people were taking pictures than praying, and why not. This church is truly one of its kind. It should definitely be on your must visit list in Finland.
