I have been to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) many times for my work, and over the years I have clearly developed my favorite restaurants, hotels, bars, and general activities. When you are in HCM the most important thing to do is walk around as much as possible. HCM is a fantastic city with a tremendous history. See HCM as soon as possible, as it is changing. However, HCM and Vietnam continue to remain one of my favorite destinations of my travels. I first started traveling to Vietnam in 1992, and it constantly evolving. My favorite hotel is the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon which located in the heart of HCM. it is a new hotel, great property, beautiful rooms, and the best breakfast in HCM. My favorite restaurant in HCM is the Temple Club, which is the former warehouse for the temple located across the street. The Temple Club is progressive Vietnamese food that will not disappoint. The restaurant is located on the second floor and if you are not paying attention you will walk directly past it. Outstanding progressive food with a good wine list. After dinner, retreat to the lounge to sit back in a leather club chair to enjoy a cocktail and a chat with friends. If you are looking for more, I suggest that you head to either the Chill Sky Bar or famous Saigon Bar to peer out over the city. Both are very popular, but the Sky Bar is where your younger hipper crowd will be. Another fantastic bar is located at the Park Hyatt Hotel.
Contact your hotel in advance to arrange a car to pick you up at the airport. Better deal. In addition, Vietnam has a tremendous artist community with tremendously talented artists. Check out the Apricot Gallery which represents all of the best artists in Vietnam.
