Las Vegas for Being a Gold Miner

I was staying in Vegas for a little over a week, but after a week of doing the “Vegas Thing” I wanted to see what else there was to offer around Vegas. About 45 minutes outside of Vegas is The Techatticup Mine, this is the oldest and richest Gold Mine in Southern Nevada. It ran from 1861 until 1942. For over 40 years steamboats were the best way to get here. This tour was great, they took me through a full hard rock mine tour that showed me the areas where you can see the quartz veins the gold and silver ran in. It was a walking tour, I walked probably 1/4 of a mile on a gravel path and was only one level. The tour in itself was over at around 1 hour and 20 minutes. They let me ask a bunch of questions for about 20 minutes. It was really insightful. I had a great time.
