It’s a bummer that the first thing most people think of when they ponder Vegas is the impossibly gaudy Strip. There’s so much more! For example – The Arts Factory. I had lived in Las Vegas for a couple of years, and had never bothered to visit. Shame on me. From what I’ve heard, it’s really evolved over the years. They, of course, have great events for First Friday (well known by the artsy crowd), but I’ve found that I much prefer the evening before. On the first Thursday, the artists are all over the place, getting set up for the next day. Most are pretty laid back and will actually spend time chatting with passersby about their pieces and their lives.
I took a date to The Arts Factory on the first Thursday, and we had a great time. We did happy hour at Bar + Bistro (the restaurant in the Factory), and then wandered around for probably a couple of hours, checking out all the galleries and random walls covered in all kinds of art. We also visited a couple of the shops and joked about dropping in on one of the classes at the yoga studio.
