Not much tops a California beach sunset in my travel books, so I was delighted to experience a panoramic view during a recent stay at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. With a fabulous beachfront location, just steps from the iconic Santa Monica Pier, I dove into a relaxing and luxurious stay both indoors and out.
If you love sunsets as much as I do, there are numerous vantage points at the hotel property: from the oversized pool deck with bar service to the floor-to-ceiling bar and lounge indoors, or—of course—from a beachfront suite. My recently renovated room came with a generous balcony where I faced the beach directly and could soak in every last minute of sunshine from the comfort of my home-away-from-home. Of course, there’s also nothing like getting sand between the toes and soaking in that Vitamin D up close and personal, and beach access is super convenient with a special hotel entry and exit point that leads directly to the boardwalk and beach promenade.
During my time at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, I wandered along the oceanfront and took a stroll on the Pier, stopping for a requisite Pier Burger and frozen custard. There’s so much activity on the Pier, perfect for invigorating strolls or family activities, from amusement park rides to fishing to perusing souvenir shops. I was pleasantly caught off guard when stumbling upon a production set for Lucifer—and got a great glimpse of the actors, too.
Back at the hotel, I enjoyed deluxe Julien Farel bath amenities and complementary coffees and teas stocked in the suite bar. But true relaxation came from the fabulous sleep I had in premium, lush bedding. I lingered a little longer than usual the next morning as the bed was so inviting. As comfortable as I was, though, I had to take advantage of my room’s other amenities. The beachfront balcony was a perfect spot to greet the day with a cup of coffee before settling into a bit of work at the spacious, well-lit desk. My suite had everything that makes business travel successful: plenty of outlets and charging stations, adjustable lighting, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of space to feel comfortable and at ease as I balanced work and leisure.
Plenty of dining options on-site make the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel a perfect one-stop vacation home-away-from-home. From the signature Californian cuisine of Ocean & Vine to the Sunrise Breakfast Bar, with room service too, selections abound. For those looking to unwind, the on-site Ocean Spa has an extensive massage and treatment menu and the Fitness Center provides a variety of workout options. For the business crowd, a full-service Business Executive Center provides a quiet place to work, though I also found the WiFi to be excellent on the gorgeous pool deck.
While I was on a working-leisure combo trip, I have to say leisure won even when I was working. There’s nothing like zipping off emails with the sun shining down on you and a refreshing umbrella drink at your side, then dipping into the perfect temperature pool for a wind down. Now that’s what I call a great day at work.
My time at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel was brief, but perfect in every way. From welcoming front desk attendants to friendly bar service, the staff ensured a quality stay while my room offered every amenity I could possibly need for an overnight beach getaway. Plus, with the most coveted location steps from the beach and the Pier, I enjoyed this little slice of paradise from sunrise to sunset. Plan your stay at http://www.loewshotels.com/santa-monica.
