If you’re hanging out in Silver Lake chances are you already are familiar with the late great Elliott Smith’s work, but what you might not know is that Silver Lake is the home of the Elliott Smith memorial wall. It’s got the album art from Smith’s “Figure 8” album and is a bit of a landmark for visiting pilgrims who want to pay their respects to the troubled musician or just to get a fun picture while poking around one of Los Angeles’ coolest neighborhoods.
I finally made my pilgrimage to the wall after being in LA for several years and it’s about what you’d expect though I’d be careful during the summer as it can draw quite a crowd even if it doesn’t offer all that much aside from being a painted wall dedicated to a great musician.
My friend was visiting and got her own Air BnB for around $65 a night and it was super nice especially for the price. LA rental prices can really put a hurt on your wallet,so I thought I’d mention this rental since I know how hard it is to find an affordable room if you’re not on your company’s dime.
