The Springs are a collection of smaller towns located about two hours south of Denver, Colorado. It is an area to be considered as a cradle of health and fertility by the natives. Between the natural, ready-to-drink water that gushes from the ground, the clean air and beautiful landscapes, it makes sense. We will get a little more in to the folklore of the place when I write about the cliff dwellings in the area. For now let’s talk about kissing camels that would make a dinosaur feel tiny and rocks bigger than your house that your can camp under. I am referring to a place known as the Garden of the Gods, of GoGs according to the locals. This massive rock garden is home to some of the largest red rock formations I have ever seen. The camels are of course atop on wall where erosion created the top to appear as if camels are kissing at the top and the massive rock you can camp under is help up by only a few stones not much larger than your arm. Crazy right? No. It was spectacular. I have been back to the GoGs a few times now and it still takes my breath away. Do yourself a favor and visit this place if you ever find yourself in the state. It will be more than worth your trip and Manitou (the town closest) is a blast.
