Outside of Dia de Muertos, the historic center of Mexico City is a giant cement center with a massive Mexican Fla rising up in the middle of it. There was a fair amount of debri decorating the ground the day after Dia de Muertos with a paid city workers slowly but surely cleaning the place up and across the street is the famous Metropolitan Cathedral. There is actually a full on tour you can take that winds through the streets of the city featuring a few historical building but we were more focused on visiting the cathedral to seek out forgiveness and then find a good taco spot. The architect modeled it after the Gothic cathedrals in Spain with a bithcin organ inside. After sitting in the pews and staring at the overall elegance of the place a few minutes it was time for tacos and hair of the dog before going to the airport. I definitely plan to go back and take that tour and you should too.
