Decided to splurge while in Miami and it did not disappoint. Got a few recommendations for Airboat In Everglades and booked a trip for a small group of our friends. We left out of Miami and headed down the coast on a beautiful day.
The guide had no trouble finding wildlife and took time to point out the different birds (egrets, herons) and the difference between gators and crocodiles. Apparently Florida is one of, if not the only, place where both species coexist. I never would have guessed. It was a two hour trip but the time flew by rather quickly as there was a lot to see and our guide, who I’m sorry but I can’t remember his name for the life of me, never ran out of information to share or quick jokes to tell.
It was a nice break from all the commotion and pace of Miami to escape by boat out into a bit of wilderness and to see the tall water grass and the unique wildlife native to the area. It was my favorite experience from our trip to Miami, though snorkeling and kayaking and Cuban food were all a great time too.
