We went to Montreal for five days, and had a fantastic time. The city has a great public transit system, and is flat and very walkable. We stayed in the Gay Village, near the Berri-Uqam subway stop, which gives you easy access to all lines. You can take the green (Vert) line to the downtown core shopping district and (going the other way) to the Olympic Village.
We were able to check out a Montreal Impact game while visiting and the subway made it super easy. Montreal is easy to walk around and check out other neighborhoods. We checked out Saloon and Pacini near our place in the Gay Village, and walked to nearby Bistro Tot Du Tard for an epic brunch. Downtown has a fantastic grouping of restaurants, like Le Societe, and cool shops, like Frank & Oak with shopping and a barber shop on the second floor. We went to Strom Nordique Spa on Nuns’ Island for their monthly Friday Under The Stars night, and it was awesome! They have a DJ, dinner and drinks with all of the fantastic spa services. It was amazing.
The city has a lot to do, and some wonderful large parks. The locals speak French, but you can get by with a few words as most people also speak English. The people were very kind and the city is very gay-friendly. Montreal is a great city that we’ll definitely be visiting again.
