I went to the Tulip Festival when I was in Washington visiting my family. It was mid-April and actually sunny (rare for spring in Washington). We left their house – which is about 30 miles south of Mount Vernon – in the late morning, stopped for some coffee, and were at the fields around 12:30. A lot of other people had the same idea that day, because it was quite crowded!
We, of course, wandered through the fields for a long time. The expanse of them – absolutely massive! And the colors are so brilliant. It’s almost hard to believe they’re real unless you’re standing right in the middle of them. We also visited their little gift shop and when we came out, a bald eagle was soaring right above our heads. Amazing! Apparently they’re very common for the area.
