My husband and I decided to go to Fiji for Valentine’s Day. It was incredible! The flight brings you to the island in the early morning so you have all day to settle in. The experience begins when they open the cabin door and you can smell “earth”. That is the best way I can describe it. Customs was actually fun. They had fast clearance but in the bit of time you wait, there is a Fiji band playing music for you.
We had a private transfer set up to the resort and our driver told us about the island on the scenic ride to the property. Check in was smooth. Our room was not ready yet because we got there so early but they held our bags and pointed us to the pool bar while we waited. We had time for one drink before a staff member found us and escorted us to our room overlooking the ocean. The bathtub was even out on the balcony to have amazing views. I loved how the bed faced the windows so every morning, we could wake up to the spectacular scenery!
We did go in rainy season so there was rain almost every afternoon. It cancelled our golf game but that was it. We took an amazing jungle adventure with “Uncle Joe” and went to kava ceremonies almost every night. There was also nightly entertainment where they brought in local musicians and dancers. They were all wonderful!
I have to commend the staff. They were so friendly and personable! I was going through my pictures to upload and almost half were of the staff interacting with us, remembering our names, joking around, just REALLY wonderful human beings! I would make a return trip just to hang out with them again.
Overall I cannot wait to return to such a magical destination, both island and resort.
