Natchez is one of the oldest continuous settlements on the Mississippi River, actually settled 2 years before New Orleans. In 2016 it will be celebrating its 300th anniversary all year long with over 300 events. I absolutely can not wait. The last time I visited Natchez I got to truly see how much soul and history is there. I can not wait to get back because as you walk around the city you get to see the mix of antebellum history, from the Native American Roots or pre-civil war architecture that still stands. You can even catch some tours with period garb.
Tricentiennial Party is in August, Natchez PowWow in March, or the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race in October.
When in Mississippi, do not forget to check out one of the places with the most significant cultural history within this region of the USA!
