Roosevelt Island was one of the more almost eerie places I visited while I was in NYC. The history of Roosevelt island is quite off. Before the 20th century, it was used to home NYC’s sick and imprisoned. There were several hospitals, mental institutions, and prisons across the island. The remains of Renwick Smallpox Hospital is still standing and unused. It is located on the islands southern tip. Recently, the island has become home to many residents. There are even plans to build a Cornell sub campus on the island. This doesnt change that the island is pretty weird. It is the only place in NYC that is accessible by aerial tram. This is what I did, I took the aerial tram to the island to walk around. The aerial tram provides stunning views you do not get to see from other parts of the city.
