Of all the food and wine festivals in all the land, Epcot does it best. The sheer size and scope of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Florida, is impressive. Now in its 23rd year, the Festival is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited! Anytime between August 30th and November 12th, you can enjoy the most delicious array of food, wine, and entertainment all within the spectacular setting of the Epcot World Showcase.
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival – 5 Tips for Success
Since the Festival offers so much to enjoy, it can be challenging to figure out what the Festival best practices are. It can feel somewhat like that unfortunate moment when you have to go to a new grocery store, one in which you are not yet familiar with where all of your usual items can be found. You don’t yet know how to make your way through efficiently, which aisles to avoid, when the best sales are, etc. We completely understand we’ve all been there before. To ensure you have the best experience possible, enjoy five of our most useful Epcot International Food & Wine Festival insider tips:
1. Make FastPasses in Advance
These days Walt Disney World allows FastPasses to be reserved up to 30 days in advance. As long as you have your tickets and know which day(s) you’ll be visiting Epcot during the Festival, you can begin to select which rides are worth reserving aFastPasss in advance. This way you’ll have a bit of structure to your day and will save some time not waiting in long lines, time you can devote to more eating and drinking, of course.
2. Plan to Visit in September
Even though the Festival runs until November 12th, we highly recommend attending in September. As the rest of the nation gets busy with back to school preparations and such, you can be enjoying the Festival with thinner crowds. Historically flights, hotels, and travel-related expenses are often lower in September.
3. Get Your Passport Immediately
The more of a game plan you create, the more efficient you’ll be able to move through the Festival. Our favorite way to get organized is to retrieve your complimentary Festival Passport immediately upon arriving. Since the Festival is in the World Showcase, the passport will help you plan out which countries and booths you want to hit, in which order, and you can use the stickers as markers within the passport as you go!
4. Arrive Just Before Opening, Each Day
The early bird gets the worm, or in this case, space and freedom to roam sans crowds. Epcot Center opens at 9am, and the World Showcase opens at 11am. We recommend arriving at the park when it opens and spending a few hours enjoying the rides and other attractions. Then, just before 11 you can head over to the World Showcase and be among the first to enter and enjoy!
5. Choose Accommodations Wisely
Orlando is a large and spread out city, and many of the resorts are quite far from Epcot. We recommend choosing a resort that’s relatively nearby, and one that offers complimentary transportation to and from the Festival. One such resort is The Grove Resort & Spa Orlando.
Those are five of our most useful Epcot International Food & Wine Festival best practices, and we are certain if you use them, you’ll agree! For official details about the Festival and to purchase tickets, you can visit here. Turn your Festival trip into a vacation with a stay at The Grove, where you can relax poolside, at the spa, or in your spacious residential-suite style room in between enjoying the Festival.
