Portland is a great city, with tons of spots for delicious food and drinks, cool art and music, and good shopping. One of my favorite things to do in Portland, though, is walking around the rose garden – over four acres covered with over 650 kinds of BEAUTIFUL roses.
My grandmother – a master gardener – came for a visit last summer, and I wanted to make sure she had an opportunity to see the garden – especially in the summer, when they’re at their peak prettiness. We had an early lunch one Saturday and then perused the rose garden for probably two hours. She LOVED it.
Trained volunteers give free guided tours of the gardens from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
