Gardens of Hope is 12 acres of pure peace. The perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of nearby Cavendish. Part of New Glasgow’s The Preserve Company property, the vision for this by-donation attraction was clearly to create a place of absolute rest for anyone who visits. Meticulously maintained gardens and defined, winding pathways run throughout. There is even a butterfly house, which has a set cost to enter (totally worth it).
There is a cottage in the garden provided specifically for short-term stays for individuals suffering from life threatening illnesses, and caretakers who are experiencing severe fatigue and need somewhere to recharge. The Preserve Company also make the space available for small events put on by non-profit humanitarian organizations. The cottage, to me, is sort of the embodiment of the heart behind the whole place. Just meandering through the garden, my mind slowed down and I could breathe more easily. It’s so great to be reminded that there are still people in the world who are that concerned with the peace and well-being of others, and with the appreciation of nature.
