Sacramento, CA for a Perfect Drive-In Experience

Some friends and I went to catch a double feature at West Wind not too long ago. We were really excited because we were just passing through Sacramento on a big road trip, and happened to run onto this place. Drive-ins are such fun, nostalgic bits of Americana, but they’re so hard to find! We arrived fairly early to beat the crowds, and claimed our spot. There were already people speckled here and there, but we still got to park nearly front and center. Then it was time for snacks. West Wind’s snack bar is so adorably retro. We ordered probably way too much popcorn, a couple of hot dogs, and coffees all around, to keep us awake for the remaining two hours we’d need to drive *after* the movies. (Yeah, we’re nuts.) Once the first movie started, we noticed immediately the crazy good quality of the projection. Sometimes drive-in screens can cause the films to look overblown and fuzzy, but these were super clear, and we were able to stream the sound right through our radio. This was such a great and unexpected addition to our trip!
