Salvador Dalí Desert, Bolivia for 4x4 Tour

As part of a 3-day tour through southwest Bolivia (starting in Uyuni and the nearby salt flats), the group I was with spent a day traveling through the Salvador Dalí Desert. Although Dalí himself never visited the area, the colors and shapes look like many of his paintings.

This was a bizarre landscape. It felt like the surface of Mars (it’s apparently one of the driest places on Earth) and I would not have been at all surprised to see a rover or Mark Watney crossing one of the valleys.

Where I stayed / started

Potosí Department, Bolivia
