San Antonio, TX, United States for Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Art Museum

This had to be one of the most interesting attractions I visited in San Antonio. So the museum was created by a veteran plumber named Barney Smith. After he retired he started painting and collecting different toilet seat lids and displaying them in his garage. It started out as just a hobby, but once the media took notice of it he was able to officially call his garage a “museum” and started letting people come and view his work. IT LITERALLY IS AT HIS HOUSE! He is an older man and the hours of operation are not an everyday thing. Literally wall to wall is covered in toilet seat lids with a different painting on every one of them. My buddy and I spent hours scanning through the collection and I still feel I might have missed something. Anyways Barney was a very kind man and is getting up there in age, but his love for the arts is so inviting. Especially since he is inviting strangers to come to his own home. Defiantly a very unique attraction to check out if you are ever in the area.

Insider Tip

Make sure to check hours of operation! I googled them once I caught wind that the museum existed.

Have you done this? What can you add to this jrrny?
