I’m not a huge fan of dueling piano bars or surprise birthday parties but by some chance, the two worlds collided and I ended up in San Diego pairing one with the other. Drinks were pretty pricy and the atmosphere was very loud, but that’s kind of what to expect at this kind of thing. I was very impressed with the talent of the pianists and the amount of songs they knew. Some of the crowd interaction was a bit much, but again, that’s kind of what to expect at this kind of place. Regardless, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be and seeing our friend up on stage doing the Pee Wee Herman “Tequila” dance made the whole night worth the effort.
