Seattle is not short-handed when it comes to coffee. Duh. The downside: it’s sort of hard to stand out in such a saturated market. Case and point: Broadcast Coffee entirely escaped my attention until my boss set a meeting there. It’s walking distance from my house, so I decided to get some exercise in as well.
It’s February, and characteristically grey, but I was immediately greeted by a sunny, modern ambience and super-friendly baristas. (Baristos?) I ordered a cappuccino, which was reasonably priced, considering that the more “hip” shops around town charge an arm and a leg – no doubt simply for the Instagram appeal. I paid $3.75, and it was worth all the pennies. My boss got a latte and a Coke in a glass bottle. (Apparently he’s not been sleeping well.)
The meeting ran long by about 45 minutes, but I was so cozy at Broadcast, I hardly noticed. I decided to stick around and finish a stack of other work – and to write this post. I think I’ve found a new office. 🙂
There is also a location in the Central District, which is decidedly *not* walking distance from my house, but I’m sure it’s equally welcoming.
