Walking on the banks of the river where Singapore was founded by the British East India company 200 years ago. You will see the shop houses and keys that made it an important trading hub between Europe and Asia as well as the sky scrappers of the financial district that have recently made this city rich. I think this is one of my personal favorite things to do when visiting Singapore because you get to see all sides of the city, the old and the new, on one walk. Also browse around some of the shops, the locals are very friendly and you might even find some cool things to bring home with you like I did. I found a great necklace that was also really affordable. This is also where you will find some of the best street food.
