Skeena River for Fly Fishing for Steelhead

Epic Trip to the famous Skeena River in BC last fall! Well,.. famous for all you steelheaders out there anyway. It’s quite a haul to drive all the way up there from Vancouver, so we opted to fly into Terrace where the lodge owner, Martin, picked us up. From there it was about a 1 hour, scenic drive up the mountainous Skeena valley to our accomodations. Martin has 4 Tent/Cabins right on the river. I say Tent/cabins, but really this is probably more like 5 star Camping. Each Cabin is about 800 sqft, comes with a 3 bed rooms, a full kitchen, and a deck over lookings the river,… and of course,.. a hot tub. Not bad after a full day on the water. Gets better though. Each cabin has a 4 person side by side ATV, that you can use to access over 5 km of private access water on the Skeena River. After a light breakfast we would hit the river and swing flies for monster chrome Steelies! On the river all day, and when we got back dinner was on the table. I’m going back!

Insider Tip

A good Steelhead guide on the Skeena will cost you $1000 + / day. If you stay at this lodge, it costs $395/night, and you eat and fish for FREE! woot woot!
