Maui offers a little bit of everything for everyone. While it’s usually a little more crowded than Kona or Kauai, it maintains that island feel and seems to get a little more sun. Maui offers incredible beaches, fantastic golfing and wonderful resort life, but here’s a few more suggestions that will make you never want to leave!
You have a dozens of options when it comes to hiking trails in Maui but we’ll focus on two suggestions. While Maui has no shortage of incredible scenery, the Kapalua Coastal Trail offers some of the best views on the island. It is a 3.5 mile promenade that overlooks a series of bays. This flat, easy to navigate pathway alternates between wooden boardwalk and volcanic rock trail, making it a great hike for kids and grownups alike. On this trail you can soak in the morning sun while taking it breathtaking vistas.
Whether you’ve earned your calories or not, get over to Slappy Cakes in Kaanapali for a delicions breakfast. It’s a favorite for both locals and tourists because of the unique serving method. You will get your own organic, homemade batter and cook your pancakes on your own mini grill. The decor is modern, super clean and bright. It’s right off the highway between the Maui Westin and the Honu Kai.
There are a few places that offer ziplining in Maui, each offering enticing views of the island. Note: After the rush of endorphins let this be your only big activity for the day and head to the beach. We were pretty tired after all the excitement of this fun activity.
It’s a little surf village on the Northeast side of the island where you’ll find quaint shopping and super fresh seafood. You can also make an afternoon of it and then have dinner at local favorite Mama’s.
The Road to Hana is well known. It’s beautiful, but it can get crowded and dominate the whole day. For what could be a bit more of a relaxing and less populated cruise you can get just as much adventure and some amazing, payoff views by doing the drive around the north tip of Kapalua from Paia back to Kaanapali / Wailea. The road gets a little narrow in spots, so be careful!
More awesome views between Kapalua and Kahalui
OK, you may not be expecting to get one of the nation’s premier magicians to be on Maui, but that’s indeed the case. Warren and Annebell’s treats you to magic and hilarious comedy in a first class venue. The evening can be a commitment (lasts a couple hours with dinner) but you’ll receive a series of astounding magic tricks combined with some Henny-Youngman-like quips and humor. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our evening activities on our vacation. Visit: www.warrenandannabelles.com
Where to stay? Jrrny recommends the Westin Maui or the Sheraton Kaanapali. Both offer fantastic experiences for both families and adults.
