A great Jrrny starts with a great home base. The Red Barn is perfect. Comfy and cozy and oozing cool. Read the reviews. Well located for skiing, hiking, biking, dining and shopping.
I believe a good day starts with vigorous exercise. The skiing on Mt. Baldy is off the charts. There are never any lines on the 14 chairs and the slopes are always immaculately groomed. If you are looking for cruisers, hit Seattle Ridge. On snow days, the bowls are challenging and fantastic. Sun Valley also has a good case of the bumps (moguls) on International, Holiday and Limelight.
For lunch consider the historic Roundhouse Lodge at mid mountain. It is the first lodge built at Sun Valley and the stone fireplace and hewn wood beams compliment the wonderful food. The food is wonderful and non-skiers can ride the enclosed gondola up to meet you. If you are looking for views while you dine, go to the Seattle Ridge lodge.
The Sun Valley Wine Company is a combo restaurant/wine store to meet at before dinner. Roam the aisles, bring your selected wine to the counter and order your food. They will bring your food, wine and glasses to one of the cozy tables. You get to drink fantastic wine at store prices (not restaurant prices). Do drink too much. The next stop is Globus. Idaho fresh meets Asian fusion at fantastic prices. I LOVE the BBQ’d ribs and I am pretty sure you will also love them. At Globus, the bartenders know their trades, so much so that you may have one too many. This brings me too….
The Sun Valley Police…..who are friendly, well equipped and dependent on tourist for their paychecks. Be smart and take a cab.
