Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Spain was Trujillo. We wandered all over Spain, but in an effort to avoid the super tourist-dense spots, we spent most of our time in the area of Extremadura. Trujillo seemed to be the most popular town – which is completely understandable, once you’ve seen it – so we made a day of it in town. Its aesthetic is completely exquisite, and the medieval character is unbelievably well preserved. We walked around almost the whole day, ducking in and out of the magnificent churches and other historic buildings, admiring the architecture and reverence of our fellow visitors.
Once we’d been sufficiently cooked by the Spanish sun (it had started to set anyway), we decided it was time for food and wine. We ate and drank on the beautiful patio at La Alberca Asador.
