Vancouver is a wonderful city with a full on international flair. Living in Seattle, we are lucky to have it just 2.5 hours to the North. We arrived mid-day on Thursday afternoon at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, which directly across the street from the Canada Place and Vancouver Convention Center. The hotel is located right on Vancouver’s outstanding waterfront, and easy walking distance to Gastown, Waterfront and Robson Street shopping. The hotel is surrounded by lots of restaurants and activities for the whole family. The hotel centrally located on the waterfront boardwalk, which great for running and biking. The Fairmont has bikes available for all guests, and there are many places that rent bikes. The Fairmont is also dog friendly!!!
On Thursday afternoon we walked around Robson street and took in the many small boutiques, and then settled down for an amazing dinner at Vijs, which is the best East Indian food that I have ever tasted. A must do if you like outstanding food. We capped off the day for a little Burrowing Owl wine at the ARC lounge at the Fairmont (with nightly acoustic guitar entertainment).
On Friday morning I started of the day with a 10k from the hotel down to scenic Stanley Park. Great running path, with many fellow runners.
The rest of day we spent walking around Granville Island and the chic enclave of Yaletown, with its many boutiques, restaurants etc.
On Friday night we had a fantastic Japanese dinner at Miku, which is a go to place for Japanese in Vancouver.
Saturday morning, I had another great run in Stanley Park, followed by brunch at the Stanley Park Tea House. A wonderful location and old school charm.
The staff at the Fairmont Hotel is outstanding, and we highly recommend it for a couple or family….with a dog.
Have fun in Vancouver.
Make a reservation for Vijs for dinner.
