Whenever I visit South Florida, I’m always on the lookout for the ultimate beachfront vacation. I’m talking waterfront accommodations, a variety of dining options, and an endless list of activities. On a recent visit to Hollywood FL, I found exactly that and so much more at The Diplomat Beach Resort.
The Diplomat Beach Resort has an incredible location in Hollywood: just 10 minutes south of Fort Lauderdale and 20 minutes north of Miami. Plus, with the Hollywood Beach Trolley making regular stops right in front of the hotel, I loved having easy access to the popular tourist area whenever I wanted, without having to fight for beachfront parking.
Yet location is just the icing on the cake for this oceanfront getaway. During my stay at The Diplomat Beach Resort, I was able to soak up the sun poolside and enjoy quiet downtime in my cozy cabana with bar service. That was my opportune time to sample Playa’s house-made tortillas, guacamole, and fresh fish tacos. From my poolside cabana, it was a hop and a step to the beachfront where I could laze about on comfy recliners or take a soothing dip in the Atlantic’s waves. For the more adventurous traveler, I must mention the great variety of water sport rentals available right on site. You name it: ocean kayaks, SUPs, Jet Skis, and more.
When it’s time for relaxation, I’m happy to say The Diplomat Beach Resort has an abundance of health and wellness activities for all interests. From beach yoga to a huge fitness center — whatever your workout, they’ve got you covered. I also recommend making an appointment at Diplomat Spa + Wellness for a soothing aromatherapy session or pampering full body treatment. The whole fitness and wellness area was incredible, with soothing cool blue lights and calming glass architecture.
After a full day at the beach, you’ll want to sample the on-site dining options. During my stay at The Diplomat Beach Resort, I wined and dined like a rock star. One of my favorite dinners was at Geoffrey Zakarian’s Point Royal, a refreshing coastal American eatery. My travel partner and I tasted one another’s Black Grouper and NY Strip Steak, nibbling on a variety of tasty sides. If you have a sweet tooth, I recommend splitting the decadent chocolate pudding for dessert! Every morning, I fueled up at Counter Point for coffee and pastries, but I also recommend trying their superfood yogurt. It’s a refreshing start to the day. Oh, and if you’re a burger fan, definitely take a stroll over to Bristol’s Burgers. You’ll smell the wonderful smoker well before you get there.
When it was time to kick back and relax, I enjoyed hanging out with a cocktail and lounging outside by a cozy fire pit. Imagine breathing in that salty ocean breeze while soothing waves lap in the distance. The Diplomat Beach Resort has, by far, one of the best locations for beachgoers. With immediate access to playing in the ocean, you can’t get any closer. Plus, I absolutely adored my oceanfront balcony in my King suite. There’s something magical about waking up after a great night’s sleep and walking out to your private patio for a good morning from the ocean.
The Diplomat Beach Resort has a variety of room options to cater to every taste and need. For my stay, the oceanfront King room was perfect; in addition to the huge private balcony, I loved the spaciousness of my room, and the sizable bath with a separate tub and shower. The Bigelow toiletries were rejuvenating, the massive towels a comfort, and the bed offered the perfect combination of comfort and firmness. I fell in love with the cool ocean color scheme and felt perfectly catered to during this little beach getaway—and I can’t wait to do it all over again another time.
