It’s a weird thing to really look hard for when traveling (or otherwise), but I love a good bowl of borscht! It’s probably my Eastern Euro heritage (even though I’d have to go back in time and meet my great grandmother to get in touch with a straight-from-Ukraine relative) OR it’s just that I love beets and why not put them in a soup? Whatever it is, I was very happy to run on to Luda’s during a visit to some mates in Canada.
It’s a pretty unassuming place on a quiet residential street. It’s only open for breakfast and lunch (7 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.), and it has a very “neighborhood diner” atmosphere. Sort of looks like grandma’s house, complete with all the comfort food your stomach could handle. I had a big bowl of borscht with sour cream and some toast and coffee. All for $10!
