Yosemite Valley, California for overnight trip to Glacier Point

Drove with 8 others from the San Francisco Bay Area to Yosemite Valley on 1/26/17, arriving after sundown. Camp 4 was less than a quarter full. Pitched three tents in the snow and slept until sunrise. Broke camp and drove 40 minutes to Badger Pass Ski Area via Wawona Road.

Cross country skied 10.5 miles from the rental shop to Glacier Point. Lost about 800 feet of elevation but there’s plenty of up and down along the way. Arrived an hour or so before sunset and made camp just past the geology hut. Boiled water for mountain houses on msr stoves while watching the sun set on Half Dome.

Insider Tip

Camp 4 is empty in the Winter and there’s plenty of parking near the rental shop.
